11 Tips For Avoiding Plastics

How To Avoid Using Plastic

To avoid using plastic is easier than you think because you can find alternatives to plastic, for instance what were we using before this great invention? Just put your thinking cap on or ask your parents and grandparents to rack their brains. So it’s vital that we go back in time and start utilising what we have around us, if we’re to keep our species on this planet.

There is so much education going on at the moment about the avoidance of plastic. We could easily use natural products and containers. But some people are just not interested and scoff when you mention the dangers to our health. Yes, unbelievable as it is, it’s often hard to encourage the “inconvenience” of natural products to some.

In fact in my supermarket many have complained about the cost of a fabric bag. And what, they argue will they use to line their rubbish bins. You win some, you lose some.

Consider Glass and metal Containers

  1. Consider buying your foods in glass and metal containers.

  2. Give up the habit of eating canned foods linked to BPA, and always try to eat fresh produce instead.

  3. Check if the product contains BPA and other toxic chemicals when purchasing stuff, but especially when plastic cannot be avoided.

  4. Avoid giving young children plastic teethers or toys, give them natural ones instead.

  5. Do not heat food in plastic containers, and don’t store fatty foods in plastic containers or plastic wrap.

  6. Use natural fibre clothing, also bedding and furniture.

  7. When purchasing water bottles, opt for a glass water bottle or stainless steel.

  8. Same goes for reusable coffee and tea mugs.

  9. Try swapping plastic straws for paper and plastic-free (reusable) eco-alternatives.

  10. Beware of the Number 7, because it might indicate that it may contain BPA, so be vigilant.

  11. Always make sure that you take a look at the bottom of your products if you can’t avoid buying plastic materials.

These attempts may seem small, but your body and the environment will thank you for the extra effort that you’ve put in.
